Loving…Pretty Smart, A new-generation salon and spa guide.

{sponsored press release}

You’re going to love this latest find – a new website called PrettySmart.  Besides being a one of the biggest online directories of beauty salons and spas in the country, it also allows YOU to rate and review the salons you’ve been to, OR see other people’s ratings before you book!  We all love a salon treatment, but no-one wants to spend money on something that’s just “average”.

As the beauty industry advances, the use of specialised treatments such as lasers and chemical peels increases.  It’s unusual to find a website that allows you to read real reviews by the salons’ clients, rather than just displaying unsubstantiated claims for various therapies.  This is where websites like PrettySmart are going to become a valuable source of information.  This is important news for those of us wanting to research which salons know what they are doing before we embark on an expensive – and potentially risky – course of treatments.

What you’ll like about PrettySmart :

  • It lists all salons, spas, nail bars and aesthetic clinics on one website.  Great for finding telephone numbers, addresses, price-lists and even specials! Currently it has over 2000 salons and we’re sure the rest will be scrambling to list themselves soon.
  • It allows you to search for salons by area or by treatment.  So for example you live in Centurion and you’re looking for a facial one Saturday afternoon – you can simply search for those criteria and then compare the salons that come up; either by price or by the ratings given by other users. (Think of it as the TripAdvisor of beauty salons!)

What you can do right now:

– pop onto the http://www.PrettySmart.co.za website and rate/ review a salon or spa that you have visited recently.  Lots of salons haven’t been reviewed yet – some deserve praise and some deserve health warnings!

– remember this site for when you are next looking for any beauty-related treatment, it’s going to become your best friend. (And those of us who have suffered through a less-than-special massage at a tatty salon because we got caught by a half-price massage deal online … definitely check this website before getting caught again!)

Loving… The Body Shop

I’ve loved The Body Shop for a long time, but often have some difficulty in indulging in products from myself.  My friends and family have recently caught on, and for my most recent birthday I was showered (ha ha) with quite a range of products.  Here’s a list of my current favourites.

Wild Rose Hand Cream

This hand cream is lovely and light, absorbs quickly and has a lovely subtle scent.  Perfect for use during the day.

Almond Hand and Nail Butter

This is quite a lot richer, more suited to bedtime use.

Moringa Body Scrub

My mom-in-law gave me some for Christmas, and I love it.  It’s much creamier than most scrubs, and has a lovely summery scent that lasts for ages (it’s lovely to use in the bath in the evening, then still get a whiff of scent the next day).

Shea Body Butter

No Body Shop list would be complete without some body butter.  This one is creamy and rich, perfect for dry winter skin.

Satsuma Bath & Shower Gel

This is on my “must buy for summer” list.  I love the fresh citrusy smell.
